How to Get to Cape Cod

A strong word of advise – please leave your vehicles at home in the mainland if you are planning to visit Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.

Cape Cod is reachable by air, land and water. Bay State Cruise Company provides both high-speed catamarans as well as regular boat ferry services between Boston and Provincetown from Memorial Day Weekend to Columbus Day Weekend. Ferry services operate from Boston harbor to Provincetown through mid September to mid October. Falmouth Ferry Service ( +1 508 548 9400 ), Freedom Cruise Line ( +1 508 432 8999 ), Hy-Line Cruises ( +1 508 778 2600 ), Island Queen ( +1 508 548 4800 ), Patriot Party Boats ( +1 508 548 2626), Steamship Authority Reservations ( +1 508 477 8600 ), Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket Steamship Authority ( +1 508 771 4000 ) are the ferry services that run regular services to Cape Cod. There are frequent ferry services from the southern ports of Cape Cod to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

The closest major International airport to Cape Cod is Boston’s Logan Airport. Some of the regional airports in Cape Cod are Barnstable Municipal Airport, Chatham Municipal Airport, Martha’s Vineyard Airport and Nantucket Memorial Airport. Cape Air, Continental, Island Airline, Nantucket Airline and US Air Express are the air service operators that run flights to Cape Cod. There is air connectivity between Providence, Bedford and Boston to Hyannis, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Provincetown all round the year. Linear Air operates weekend regular flights from Bedford to Hyannis. US Air Express operates a limited schedule of flights all round the year from Newark, New York and Boston to Hyannis.

Bus travel from Boston and Boston Logan airport to Hyannis can be arranged. Bus service also exists from Boston and Boston Logan airport to Bourne, Falmouth and Woodshole. Connecting services to New York and Connecticut is possible.

If you are traveling by car, Cape Cod is accessible from 1-95, 1-195, 1-495, and US highways 3, 6, 25 and 28. There is no train service from off the Cape to Cape Cod.
